Dan and Chris at our third stop along the road trip to good swimming. "Do you really need a picture of this?" The guys found this lovely park, covered bridge, and a nice bit of the Mad River just by driving around en route from one set of waterfalls at Stowe on the way to Warren Falls further south. In between, a lake much to crowded and no dogs allowed. Of course they jumped off the bridge, the highest thing either had jumped off of. I carry Anna across the shallow water to the rocky sand flat. She just cant get over there where Chris and Dan are on the rocks. I took a few minutes and did a quick watercolor of this scene, only to justify bringing paints along. Time to move on... Now this is Warren Falls. It looks like I could go walking along over there to get better pictures, without getting too wet, like those people are... BUT NO, I have Anna, the water-phobic adventure dog. Right now I am on the edge of a cliff, holding her leash tight, while I take this picture. I have no idea where the boys are, as they zoomed ahead on the trail leading in. Anna is trying to get me to go back to the car, maybe we forgot something. The sound of the water is like a roar, there is a bigger waterfall just up out of sight. ' There is Dan ready to walk out on the log. He does a back flip off into the ice cold water. Below is a hand and a camera on a stick, that's Chris. Under the log to the right is a blue bathing suit, that's Gary. Yes, it is extremely crowded. But look how clear that water is!!! The underwater shots will surely show up on Chris' facebook page and a video. It looks like this girl is intently watching this show, but Dan is concentrating on more important things.... And I am concentrating on keeping Anna safe and dry. we only put her in to swim if it is 90 degrees or above. So much for a secluded Vermont stream... Chris and Dan packed up to head out. Enough water for one day.
Here we are, just our own family, in Vermont. It was a quiet weekend... I am smiling because I got the camera to do a delayed shot on a tripod, see the shadow of it on the right? Dan and Chris mowed the lawn. Doesn't it look nice? They can throw that Frisbee thing, the Aerobe, really far. Even if it is quiet, we are never bored. Even Anna finds something to do. I brought up some egg cartons for Chris, since his new summer rental has chickens and eggs to gather. Anna saw the cartons on the floor and decided they are good to chew up. (at home I let her do this, since we don't need the extra paper ones. She thinks I brought them just for her.) This is our favorite place to have take-out pizza. The restaurant is just up the street in Bradford, and it is beside a big waterfall. Anna is not in the picture, but this is how we go out for pizza with the dog.
Here is my woodchip garden. It is doing amazing, with no help for one month. IN the background is Caroline. She comes by every day to feed the cows some grain. Usually Anna runs out to greet her. Tom and the girls went on a walk with Suzanne and Gary and Anna. We swam, waded, in the cool stream at Ginny's Culvert, then hiked to the Clement Loop Trail. The fancy headgear is to ward away bugs, the latest Vermont fashion. (I brought them extra long sleeved shirts to put on) The guys are all off swimming in the cold fast White River, and jumping too. It should be on facebook soon.
