Library Art Classes: Let's Make a Book and (scroll down for) Watercolor Workshop

Watercolor Workshop at Cossitt Library, July 25th
I am going to show you how I like to draw and paint outdoors on the spot, so you can finish in one sitting. Choose any scene and do some close up sketches too.
There's lots to draw outside at Cossitt. We are going to bring in a few more fun garden critters & ornaments and to make our drawings interesting. We will also take a quick look at some of my favorite artists who sketched outdoors so we can learn how they turned their sketches into picture books or fine art. Use watercolors, colored pencils, and ink pens to complete the look. Some may like to just use pencil, that's ok too. We can still draw and paint indoors if it's rainy. Hope to see you there! Please contact Granby Public Library to register.

The sailboat theme went along with our trip to Hillstead Museum, where we saw an early work of Monet. We drew from photos, then painted in the boats with acrylic on good watercolor paper. |
Visiting Artist 2012: grade 6 students experiment with mixed media. |
We practiced doing washes for the sky and ocean, then worked on our own paintings that we started last class.
